Where Do We Really Stand?

We have been free for 75 long years,
But are we really happy?
Going out at night shaking in fear,
Are we really free?

In our country when a new life is to be born,
If the gender is found to be female,
Then the soft beat of the heart is forcibly stopped,
Just because she was not a male.

If a woman has the capacity of being a soldier,
She is constantly pressurized to be a teacher.
As in the dark of the night it is not safe to be found,
They should come back home where they are safe and sound.

Pilots, doctor, architect,
Women in these fields are hard to get.
In the police army or an engineer,
Sexism is there in every sphere.

I hope in the next 75 years of independence,
Women will finally be free from domestic violence.
The struggles of women no one can understand,
I do wonder after so many years of freedom, where do we really stand?
