Cambridge Wing

At SCIS – Cambridge International Education wing, we believe every student is unique. Every student has the potential to rise and therefore we guide them to be reflective thinkers, open-minded inquirers, knowledgeable communicators, principled doers, risk takers, empathetic, caring & balanced individuals.

Faculty & Staff:

Our teachers are well experienced in International & the Cambridge education system and are best in their fields; having a vast experience of teaching in different international schools with experience ranging from 10 to 30+ years.

Academics:

SCIS nurtures a positive and inclusive school community through one-on-one sessions, group workshops, and an open-door system. We aim to develop students' self-confidence, resilience, and interpersonal skills, ensuring their academic and emotional success when they are ready to enter college.

Students are at the centre of the learning process, creating an Active learning experience. Students are encouraged to take part in classroom games and activities that use ‘recall’ allowing experiential learning through direct experience.

Projects are used as tools of Formative Assessment. This allows students to work individually or collectively to produce curriculum-related quiz, posters or models. The challenges faced while working on the project are discussed in class leading to an understanding of effective strategies for problem solving.

Students learn to gather facts, analyse them, observe later changes and draw an inference.

Courses:

Cambridge Lower secondary curriculum forms the base of learning for Grades VI to VIII. Cambridge IGCSE & an occasional O Level is followed in Grades IX & X. A Levels are accepted all over the world. A-Levels allow more in-depth knowledge in the subjects. Minimum number of subjects varies from four to five. Lesser number of subjects allows students to have more time for independent study.

Lower secondary and Senior sections both encourage various activities and methods of delivering the curriculum. PowerPoint presentations, videos, pictures, graphs, illustrations, global issues related articles, one-on-one conversations, group discussions, peer learning, role-play as well as lecture-based learning is utilized to enfold all types of learners from the VARK learning styles.

For the Lower secondary learners, movement is encouraged within a framework to break the monotony of classroom teaching.

SCIS Cambridge learners are taught to use metacognition, which is one of the pillars of the curriculum. Learners develop a plan for themselves, follow it and then, they are encouraged to also evaluate the outcome of their learning.

PE, games, co-curricular activities, educational trips, workshops and whole school activities are part of the academic session.

Career counselling:

Subject choice at the end of Grade 8 starts with subject teachers submitting their inputs to the head teacher. Student choices are given full weightage and these are checked against the subject teacher’s inputs. Our guidance counsellor suggests combinations for subject selection. Students now discuss these choices with parents and the final set of subjects for the next two years is finalised. The same process takes place again after the end of Grade 10 and finally college counselling starts at the end of first term of AS Level. The Guidance counsellor helps with every aspect of the college application process.

Why SCIS:

We believe in Warren G Harding that “Every student has the ability to be a successful learner”. We at SCIS, envision that someday every learner will build strong connections with family, friends or colleagues. Success for the Cambridge learner is the achievement of their realistic goals, dreams, and aspirations. SCIS tries to give them the ability to dream, seek the goal, live a fulfilling and meaningful life motivated from within.
