The fog seems to be fading; my garden is adorned by a kaleidoscope of bright hues of crimson, coral, and amber this morning. Oh, the calendar has flipped its way right into the heart of February. The earth has put forth new life again with grasses rising up to meet a brighter sky and the flowers lifting their radiant heads. A tiny maina is sitting on the edge of my window, chirping "welcome spring, delighted to meet you again."
“February is the morning where the first violet opens its eye” - Victor Hugo
Spring symbolizes new beginnings, growth, and hope. The cold mess and frozen aspirations of many hearts feel the warmth of the golden beams peeking through shifting clouds, warm enough to let one feel hopeful again. Every flower that blooms, seraphic and sweet-scented, whether red, yellow, white, or pink, is supported by the stem that provides it with strength to rise and stand still even when the gale wishes to weigh it down. A flower's stem is its hope. Hope gives you the strength to keep going.
So this spring, step out of your comfort space and explore this outside world that unfolds its wonders before you. You're growing older every year, and there's a chance to experience something new and do things better by learning from your past. Pick up a flower, hold it by the stem, and admire its elegance. Hold it gently; you wouldn't want to crush it, you know. Hope is what sustains you through the odds and oddities of life.
For when you see grey and feel cold, don't stop searching for warmth and something colourful because the universe always falls in love with a stubborn heart, a heart resilient enough to look beyond the agony inflicted by storms and stone to thrive on the radiance of rainbows.
Let us herald spring through the words of
Bernard Williams - “The day lord
created hope was probably the same
day he created spring”
