Summer

Like every year, Summer is back. Days are long with high temperatures and uncomfortable warm nights. I don’t like summer season much. Only one thing that is good about Summer is, waking up early in the morning which creates no problem for me. In one such morning while getting ready for school, I heard my parents discussing that our school may start online classes for us due to the severe heatwave. The idea of online classes made me very sad. I was very upset that day and in the evening after my mother returned from work, I asked as to why this year the summer season is unbearable? I was very inquisitive and asked her how they used to go to school during summer days?

After hearing all my questions, my mother explained to me the reasons behind the extreme weather conditions. She clarified that deforestation is one of the main reasons. Increase in population is leading to increase in demand for places to stay, new buildings are being constructed by filling up water bodies, lots of vehicles are plying on the roads causing huge carbon emissions increasing pollution around us. All these are destroying our environment and causing global warming.

I realized that the situation is very alarming. Worried, I asked my mother how to prevent this situation. She told me if we want, we can contribute to make things better around us. We should plant more and more trees around us. It can also start with our terrace gardening. Along with planting trees, we also need to protect them. I am already taking care of my terrace garden actively. I request all my friends to come forward and start doing things to protect our environment as much as possible. All these small steps will surely help us to create a better environment again in which we can go to school every day and have lots of fun. I don’t want to be stuck at home doing classes online due to the severe heatwave. Rather I want each one of us to come forward and take steps to save our own environment or else it will lock us inside our house for months.
